I am writing to ask you to make action to avert a new developing world debt crisis part of your manifesto at the 2015 General Election.<br /><br />A new boom in irresponsible lending has taken place in the developing world since the financial crisis, particularly in Africa. I am very concerned that this is setting a new debt trap for people in poverty around the world, and that the UK aid budget is contributing to it. Please will you pledge to:<br /><ol>
<li>Keep giving UK aid as grants not loans, and stop supporting irresponsible lending by the World Bank.</li>
<li>Support tax justice by making sure the UK’s tax laws don’t encourage big companies to avoid tax in the developing world.</li>
<li>Push for fair global rules on debt to stop vulture funds and show banks they won’t be bailed out for reckless lending.</li>
